Hornets Update

by Hornets Staff

The month of November has proven to be the best month for your Cold Lake Hornets who found a way to dig themselves out of last place in the Provincial Division standings.

The Hornets picked up four wins in November defeating the Meadow Lake Mustangs 5-3 and 3-1 on back-to-back nights, upsetting then No. 1, Hinton Timberwolves 5-2, and winning against the Barrhead Bombers 5-2. In summation, Cold Lake accumulated 12-points and overtook the fourth spot in the division.

The Hornets most recently defeated the Bombers 3-2 to start the month of December with 19-points in the standings, and are beginning to create some space between them and the Bombers.

Cold Lake has now managed to beat every team in the division except for the Edson Aeros who are first in the division, second in the WSHL.

Hinton will pay the Cold Lake Energy Centre a visit for a pair of games just before the Western States Shootout (Showcase). The Hornets will be tested well with the Timberwolves before heading out to Las Vegas to face equally matched cross-division rivals.

WSHL Showcase Notes:

The Hornets will play against the Wichita Jr. Thunder, Seattle Totems, and Southern Oregon Spartans. The Western States Shootout is a four day event featuring every team in the league under one roof. Friends and family are encouraged to attend with their teams to witness high-intensity, playoff-like matchups with over a hundred college scouts in attendance. The schools/scouts in attendance are primarily NCAA DI-III and ACHA DI.

It is the perfect moment for players to start interacting with college scouts, or to put a face to the name if they are already collaborating with an attending school.

Every game at Showcase counts toward the regular season in order to ensure the highest level of competition.
