Hornets Update 01.29.20

by Hornets Staff

The Cold Lake Hornets officially moved into third place in the Provincial Division standings despite only winning one of three games last weekend. Cold Lake surpasses the Bombers by three points and still have five games against them in the season.

The Hornets found their 7-6 OT win against Barrhead with Johan Crowchild scoring two goals, and Anson Smith registering four assists. Access the scoresheet to see a full list of scorers (https://stats.wshl.timetoscore.com/generate-scorecard.php?game_id=8233).

Cold Lake is now looking at one of their tougher back-to-back challenges as they will play the No. 1 Edson Aeros and No. 2 Hinton Timberwolves on the road. The Aeros are currently owners of the only active undefeated streak at 14-0-0 playing in Repsol Place. Hinton also has a strong home record of 12-2-0.

Although the Hornets won't compete for a second place finish, they must widen the gap between them and the Bombers, and to lock-in home ice for the first round of playoffs.
